Irish Open Title Successfully Guarded by Smyth

Irishman Niall Smyth went toe-to-toe at the final table to win the 2011 Irish Open Monday.

The €3,500 Paddy Power Poker Irish Open 2011 attracted 615 players to the Burlington Hotel in Dublin, Ireland this weekend, creating a total prizepool of €1,968,000.

Two years ago, Smyth bubbled the final table finishing 11th, rolled into Monday’s final table with the chip lead and ultimately beat WPT title holder and televised British poker legend Surinder Sunar to earn the title in Europe’s longest running NLHE tournament. If you want to get in on the action and start making a name for yourself online at UB, the first step to go through would be the UB download.

Smyth pocketed €550,000 for the win and since he was the last Paddy Power Poker qualifier standing, he earned an additional €100,000 through the site’s Sole Survivor promotion. There is no question that the UB poker bonus that is available for new players is one of the best bonuses in the world of online poker.

Apparently, he parlayed a €200 win on a horse race into a seat in the tournament through Paddy Power Poker and now named champion.

Heads-up with Sunar lasted almost four hours with the chip lead changing hands more than once and Smyth ultimately winning.
