I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of you have supported my 2006 campaign for Congress in Illinois’ 18th Congressional District. It’s really difficult for me to express in words my gratitude for all that you’ve done to help me.
The election is just a few days away. It’s always been my feeling that in a democracy there are no losers in a free election. However, because of gerrymandering, the huge amounts of money spent on campaigns and the perception by some in the media that campaigns are more a sporting event than an important part of our Constitutional process, it’s more and more difficult for challengers to be a successful candidate in a system designed by incumbents, for incumbents. Our nation suffers greatly because of this.
Nevertheless, with limited resources, with a fine website supported by my daughter and son-in-law and with the help of many supporters and friends I’m proud to say that I feel that I’ve been a very successful candidate and, regardless of Tuesday’s outcome, I feel like a winner and you should feel like one too. Thanks again.
