NRA Postcards

Posted On 19th September 2006 @ 12:06

For several weeks I’ve received hundreds of postcards from NRA members concerned about my position on the Second Amendment, gun registration, rogue Federal Agents, the U.N. disarming citizens worldwide, and the individual’s right to own and use firearms.

This letter is my response.

Like yourself I am also a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, and the other Constitutional Amendments as well. As you requested, I want you to be aware of my stand on the issues that concern you as well as additional
issues that you may find interesting.

"Freedom is not free." I know, I was active duty with the Air Force for four years (1968-72) and the Peoria Air Guard for 20 years. Just as I do not want our Second Amendment rights taken away, I want to protect the right of all Americans to have freedom without excessive government interference. It’s the number one reason why I’m a candidate for Congress in the 18th Congressional District.

1. I’m opposed to national gun registration as well as national registration of gun owners.  I’m also opposed to a National I.D. card. With today’s powerful computers I am concerned that national registries enable a "Big Brother" government to intrude upon, control, and influence our lives in a way that has the potential to put our Democracy at risk.

2. Federal agents who act outside the law should be brought to justice, and that includes CIA agents, IRS agents, and Treasury agents.

3. We certainly do not need to help the U.N. disarm private citizens in our country or any country. Additionally, I want you to know that I favor "concealed carry" with tight restrictions and local control.

4. As individuals we have the right to own weapons. I don’t want anyone taking your or my firearms away. I do have concerns about certain exotic types of ammunition. Military ammo with no purpose other than to kill people should not be made available to the public..

I hope this letter has been helpful. My website is: [1] www.waterworthforcongress.com  You can learn of my stand on many other issues at the site.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

Steve Waterworth
