Monica Lewinsky, Ray LaHood and 9/11

On the 5th anniversary of 9/11, the Republicans desperately trying to save their majorities in the House and the Senate have turned to blaming Bill Clinton for the tragedy of 9/11.

It goes something like this; if it hadn’t been for the distraction of the Lewinsky scandal, Bill Clinton would have been better able to have fought the war against Bin Laden. Therefore, according to the Republicans, 9/11 is Bill Clinton’s fault.

The question is: why was there a scandal and impeachment hearing to begin with over a private sex matter between two consenting adults? Why did anyone care?  It was politics, pure self-serving Karl Rove politics.

It was the Republican party, with Ray LaHood leading the way, trying to weaken a strong, well-liked President to the point that the American people would vote a Republican into office.  It worked.

Using Republican style logic, it has to follow that when Ray LaHood takes credit for his role in impeaching Bill Clinton, he also is taking credit for causing 9/11.

Ray LaHood, who failed to serve during the Viet Nam war that he supported, became a bureaucrat, turned into a politician, helped cause 9/11.  Not good for the 18th Congressional district, not good for America.
