According to the Boston Globe’s Website on a party-line vote, a House Appropriations subcommittee approved cuts of 23% to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. These cuts likely are only the beginning of the Conservative Republican goal to completely eliminate federal funding for one of the last remaining sources of television’s credible "watchdog journalism". What these continuous attacks on Public TV really are about is the control and influence by Republican conservatives over what Americans can see and what they can know. Essentially it’s a backdoor attack on the Constitution of the United States. You’ve also seen it in one of my previous articles about the Republican attack on "Net Equality" which is also a way of controlling information. George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, and their Congressional allies are "Big Brother" control freaks. They know what’s best every step of the way on every issue. It’s their way or the highway. The question is will Ray LaHood prove to be a friend or foe to PBS, Peoria’s Channel 47 and the American people?
The election on Nov 7 is the last election in the 18th Congressional district before the 2008 election where you, the voter, can send George W. Bush the clear message that you don’t like the dead end highway he and his rubber stamp Congress are taking us down. It’s important for America and for yourself that you let Bush and his administration know that you want to change directions by voting for me, Steve Waterworth, on November 7th.
